Pure Smiles Hawaii
Lisa Whang Shirai DDS
"My objective is to offer preventive dental care, educate patients about oral health, and utilize the latest dental restorations for effective treatments. I'm dedicated to helping patients maintain their oral health and regain confidence in their smiles."
I was born in Taiwan and raised on Guam. As a multilingual General Dentist fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English, I bring a wealth of expertise to my practice. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Physiology from the University of Hawaii-at Manoa, both earned in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Continuing my journey, I obtained a DDS degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2007.
Driven by my commitment to delivering exceptional care, I completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Truman Medical Center-Lakewood in Missouri, where I received invaluable training under esteemed dental specialists. This experience has equipped me with a comprehensive skill set to provide the highest level of treatment to my patients. To ensure I stay at the forefront of dental advancements, I actively engage in study groups, immerse myself in dental literature, and attend continuing education courses locally and nationally.
My passion for dentistry stems from the genuine joy I derive from interacting with patients. I firmly believe that the dentist-patient relationship is built on trust and understanding, and I consider it a privilege to fulfill that role for each individual in my care. Beyond my private practice, I actively contribute to dental events, deliver presentations, and participate in dental health promotion groups, exemplifying my commitment to making a positive impact on oral health.
With over a decade of experience, I embrace the philosophy that continuous learning is key to success in dentistry. As such, I remain dedicated to expanding my knowledge and refining my skills, as a testament to my unwavering pursuit of excellence.
